Head Coach Adam Hall
Hall is now the head coach at Utah Valley University, after spending nine seasons at No. 8 North Carolina State under Pat Popolizio, where he was promoted to associate head coach in 2019. His strong recruiting helped NC State consistently rank among the top-20 nationally, with five top-5 classes.
Before joining NC State, Hall was at Columbia University, earning a Master’s in sports management in 2015. He graduated cum laude from Boise State University in 2011 with a degree in health science studies and was named the Pac-10 Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Hall was a two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Pac-10 Champion, and ranks second in BSU history with 122 career wins. He also placed fifth at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials and earned U.S. Open medals in 2013 and 2014.
Originally from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Hall and his wife, Christine, have two children, Theo and Charley.
Coach Joey Lavallee
A four-time Utah State Champion from Springville High School, Chamberlain excelled at Boise State University, becoming a two-time All-American, four-time NCAA qualifier, and 2013 national runner-up. He also achieved a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships in 2011.
As an assistant coach at Fresno State for five years, Chamberlain was instrumental in building a Top 25 program from the ground up, helping the Bulldogs secure a fifth-place Big 12 finish in just their second year back. He coached 17 Big 12 placewinners, 14 NCAA qualifiers, two All-Americans, and 14 Academic All-Big 12 honorees while boosting attendance to top-10 nationally for three straight years.
Coach Jason Chamberlain
Lavallee, now an assistant coach at Utah Valley University, had a stellar wrestling career at Missouri, where he compiled a 114-29 record and went undefeated in duals during his final two MAC seasons. A 2017 All-American, he reached the NCAA finals at 157 pounds after defeating top-ranked opponents.
A Reno, Nev. native, Lavallee won four Nevada state titles with a 206-12 high school record and excelled internationally, winning the 2011 FILA Cadet National Freestyle championship and finishing fifth at the Cadet World Championships. He continues to train at the Brunson Utah Valley Regional Training Center while mentoring UVU’s wrestlers.
Head Assistant Coach Tim McCall
Timmy McCall, now the head assistant wrestling coach at Utah Valley University, began his journey at NC State in 2015 as a training athlete with the Wolfpack RTC. During his time there, he achieved international success, including winning the 2017 Henri Deglane Challenge and earning podium finishes at the 2016 Bill Farrell and 2018 Dave Schultz tournaments. He later transitioned into an assistant coaching role in 2019, helping NC State secure four consecutive ACC Championships and mentoring 17 individual ACC Champions and 15 All-Americans. Under his guidance, NC State also achieved three NCAA top-10 team finishes.
As a collegiate wrestler at the University of Wisconsin, McCall was a three-year starter who qualified for the NCAA Championships twice and placed fourth at the Big Ten Championships in 2015. That season, he set a career-high with 23 wins and reached a national ranking of No. 9 at 197 pounds.
Coach Andrew Hochstrasser
Hochstrasser had an impressive high school wrestling career in Utah, becoming one of only 34 athletes to win four state titles. With 170 career wins, he ranks fifth in UHSAA history, including 130 falls, which places him second all-time in Utah.
At Boise State University, he went 98-14 overall, won two Pac-12 titles, and became a two-time All-American, finishing runner-up in 2011 and fourth in 2009. A three-time NCAA qualifier, Hochstrasser continued to succeed on the national and world stages, earning two runner-up finishes at the US Open, competing on two World Cup teams, and placing fourth at the 2012 Olympic Team Trials. He was also a two-time Pan American Games champion.
